New Delhi: Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday inaugurated six bridges built at the border areas of Jammu and Kashmir. On this occasion, the Defense Minister said that the development of remote areas of the region will be the main priority of the NDA government at the centre. Rajnath Singh inaugurated the bridges from the video conference in the presence of Army Chief General MM Naravane, Defense Secretary Ajay Kumar, Border Roads Organization (BRO) Director General Lt Gen Harpal Singh and other officials.
The Ministry of Defense has said that four bridges have been constructed on Akhnoor-Pallanwala road in Akhnoor and two bridges on Taranah Nala in Kathua district. A total of Rs 43 crore has been spent in the construction of these bridges. These have been constructed by the Border Roads Organization (BRO). They have been inaugurated at a time when tensions between India and China in eastern Ladakh are at acme.
Officials said that a major message behind the construction of this bridge to the people of Jammu and Kashmir is that even after the enemies create unfavourable conditions, India will continue important infrastructure development work along with the border areas. In a brief address, the Defense Minister said, "Our government is committed to continue the infrastructure development in our border areas and necessary resources will be provided for this. Our government has a great interest in the development of Jammu and Kashmir."
