New Delhi: The National Cadet Corps (NCC) will now also serve in the border and coastal areas. Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has cleared the proposal related to the expansion of NCC, under which youth of all 173 border and coastal districts will get the opportunity to participate on a large scale.
Significantly, on August 15, PM Narendra Modi from Red Fort, while talking about 'Har kam desh ke naam', had mentioned linking youth power with country service on a large scale. 1 lakh new cadets will be recruited in NCC from 173 border and coastal areas, of which one third will be girls. More than 1 thousand schools and colleges were selected under this project. After getting government approval, a total of 83 NCC units will be upgraded under this scheme.
53 of the Army, 20 of the Navy and 10 units of the Air Force are deployed in these 83 units working under the direct supervision of the Army. This project of expansion of NCC will be prepared with the cooperation of the states. The government believes that by doing so, the youth of the entire country will be encouraged to work in the army. The implementation of the decision will benefit the youth who will grow on the border.
