Defense Ministry signs Rs 1,075 cr contract with BEL for Retro Modification

Bangalore: Defense Ministry signs Rs 1,075 cr contract with Bharat Electronics  for Retro Modification. For the retro-modification of Commander Sight of Battle Tanks-T90 for the Indian Army, the Ministry of Defence has inked a Rs 1,075 core contract with Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL).

"There will be 957 tanks that will be retrofitted. The contract's entire worth is Rs 1,075 crores (including all taxes and levies)," according to an official statement released on Monday.

The successful domestic creation of the Thermal Imager-based Commander Sight by IRDE, DRDO, and BEL, which has better performance than its predecessor, adds to the Government of India's 'Make in India' policy, it said. "This will give a boost to domestic defense manufacture and create doors for the export of such advanced technologies," according to the statement.
