Dehradun, Uttarakhand: In the wake of relentless rain, a segment of the renowned Tapkeshwar Mahadev Temple in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, has crumbled. Devotees who sought to offer prayers on Sawan's Monday faced predicaments, encountering partially obstructed access to the temple entrance due to fallen trees.

Earlier this week, on Wednesday, Jakhan village experienced substantial upheaval. A total of 15 residences and seven cowsheds were utterly demolished in Jakhan, a segment of the Madrasu gram panchayat on Langha Road near Dehradun, due to land subsidence and landslides. Despite being home to around 15 families comprising roughly 50 individuals, these incidents resulted in no reported casualties, as per authorities.

Last week, heavy rainfall wreaked havoc in Dehradun's Kaluwala area. Downpours caused flooding within homes and inundated streets. The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) received reports from the Disaster Control Room regarding extensive street flooding and home intrusions caused by ceaseless rainfall in the Kaluwala vicinity, significantly disrupting daily life.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami previously conducted an aerial survey of flood-affected regions within the state. Additionally, he assessed the escalating water levels of the Ganga River in Rishikesh.

The ongoing monsoon season's intense rainfall has triggered landslides and flash floods in various locations across Uttarakhand.
