New Delhi: Mansukh Mandaviya, the Union Health Minister, met with the protesting Doctors at the Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) hospital in the national capital on Monday. For the past ten days, resident doctors from five hospitals in Delhi have been protesting about the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET)-PG 2021 being delayed.

At the RML, Mandaviya met with representatives of Resident Doctors' Associations (RDAs) from various Delhi hospitals. The doctors were told at the meeting that the Union government will push for a speedy hearing of the Supreme Court case. Earlier this year, the Supreme Court convened three hearings on the case. The next hearing date has been set for January 2022. "We have not received a written promise from the Union Health Minister," said Ajay Kumar, Vice-President, RDA, RML. Kumar added that if the Union government does not take action on Monday, the Minister has stated that he will meet with him again on Monday evening.

After the meeting on Monday evening, he added, a decision on the resident doctor’s strike would be made. However, the Minister has not stated when the Centre's representative will submit a written request to the Chief Justice of India for an early hearing.
