For the Lok Sabha elections going forward next year, the Central Election Commission (EC) has demanded a large number of electronic voting machines (EVM) and paper trail machines (VVPAT) from the government.
The Election Commission said on Wednesday that for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, about 23.25 lakh EVMs and 16.15 lakh VVPATs will be required by the end of this year. It is a matter of concern that till this time, the Commission has got only 5.88 lakh VVPATs.

Although EC said in its statement that remaining 10.27 lakh VVPat machines would be supplied to all states by November and 23.25 lakh EVM machines (13.95 lakh ballet units and 9.3 lakh control units) would be available till 30 September. There is a possibility. In their statement, EC has mentioned the reason for the delay in meeting VVPat machines.

In fact, the Committee of Technical Experts appointed by EC, analyzing the initial batch of VVPat machines, is trying to detect the shortcoming, which led to the problem of technical stabilization. Also, it is being tried to upgrade the design too.

Election Commission has started preparations for 2019 Lok Sabha. The Election Commission is working on several technologies to make the poll fair and transparent. Thereby, there will be no problem of voters in any way. Election Commission will remind voters to vote through SMS. Along with this, they will also work to check the ban on alcohol and curb the cash in the election.

For this commission is preparing to bring an app. In this election, the voter ID will be issued from the digital locker. For this, the voter has to register himself on the digital locker. This facility will be available to those people whose mobile number is connected to the voter ID.
