Delete Biden's USD 1 trillion infrastructure bill: Elon Musk

San Francisco: Tesla CEO Elon Musk has taken aim at US President Joe Biden, saying that America does not want his administration's ambitious USD1 trillion infrastructure package or any government subsidies.

"We've spent so much money... just delete them all," Musk remarked late Monday at the Wall Street Journal's CEO summit. The federal government's budget imbalance is out of control. I'd argue... can the entire (infrastructure) bill be paid? It's not worth passing, in my opinion.

After months of delay due to Democratic infighting over a social spending package, Biden signed a bipartisan USD1 trillion infrastructure measure into law in November. The plan includes USD550 billion in new infrastructure expenditure for projects including roads, bridges, passenger rail, drinking water, and wastewater systems. The balance of the infrastructure package is made up of spending that has already been approved.

Musk went on to say that Tesla has been selling its electric cars in the US without the USD7,500 federal tax credit for over a year and hasn't seen a drop in demand. He went on to say that the US government should not be providing subsidies to increase electric vehicle charging infrastructure. "Do we require assistance with fueling stations?" We don't have any. As a result, there's no need for this," Musk said.
