New Delhi: The T2 terminal of the Delhi International Airport was closed due to the severe reduction in domestic air traffic due to the second wave of corona infection. Now it is being restarted after two months from July 22, seeing the outbreak of the second wave of Corona subside. Delhi airport operator DIAL said in a statement that from July 22, the resumption of operations on T2 will take place with about 200 air traffic daily (100 departures and 100 arrivals) and will increase to about 280 by the end of August.
At present, only T3 terminal of Delhi Airport is handling flight operations. Delhi International Airport Limited said, "The T2 terminal will resume operations with IndiGo's 2000-2999 series flights and GoAir's full operation and is expected to carry around 25,000 passengers in the initial phase." Around 27 GoAir, 11 IndiGo and 16 will be available to cater to the people of the respective flights.
The decision to restart T2 operations was taken by the Delhi airport from June this year after several states gave lockdown and passenger relaxation in travel norms. The T2 terminal began handling flight operations on 1 October last year. It was closed on 18 May this year as the number of flights had come down drastically due to the second wave of infections.
