New Delhi: The Yamuna river is flowing above the danger mark on Monday morning after 8.50 lakh cusecs of water was released from the Hamani Kund barrage. In view of this, Delhi's Kejriwal government has ordered the evacuation of the waterlogged area of Yamuna. This is the first time that such a large quantity of water has been released from the Hamanikund barrage.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has called an emergency meeting on the issue. Important decisions will be taken at the meeting to deal with the situation. In view of the rising water level of Yamuna, the administration has been put on high alert. Delhi Police and Civil Defence volunteers have issued instructions to evacuate people living in low lying areas till 9 am on Monday. The Delhi government has also issued a warning about floods in the city.

The water level of the River Yamuna was recorded at 205.33 meters on Monday morning. While the danger mark is at 204.50 meters. With the release of 8 lakh cusecs of water from the Hamani Kund barrage, the water level is rising steadily and it may increase further, which may lead to water logging in low lying areas.
