NEW DELHI: On Sunday, Delhi Congress leaders and workers protested anti-encroachment drives in the national capital outside the BJP headquarters.
While moving towards the BJP headquarters on DDU Marg, the agitating Congress workers were stopped by a barricade created by the Delhi Police.
"BJP-controlled municipal corporations in Delhi are conducting these demolition efforts against poor people's homes and businesses, and Congress workers will continue to protest until it stops," stated Parvez Alam, Vice-Chairman, Communications, Delhi Congress.
Due to the carelessness of both governments, the Street Vendors Protection of Livelihood Act 2013-14, and even after the formation of the Town Vending Committee, this law could not be enforced in Delhi. As a result, thousands of street sellers' livelihoods are threatened today," said Anil Bhardwaj, Chairman of the Delhi Congress' Communications Department.
The "bulldozer" campaign is underway in numerous BJP-run municipal corporations across the capital. In their respective jurisdictions, the South and North Municipal Corporations have launched anti-encroachment campaigns.
Bulldozers also ran in Auraiya, had made a chicken farm on the playing field.
