18+ vaccinations, booths set up in 77 schools in Delhi

New Delhi: The Delhi government is set to launch the third and largest phase of vaccination amid rising cases of corona infection in Delhi. It will vaccinate beneficiaries in the age group of 18-45 years. Immunization of people above the age of 18 years will be started from today. About 9million people in Delhi will be eligible for vaccination in this category.

Vaccination booths have been set up in 77 schools in Delhi for vaccination campaign. Each school will have five vaccination booths each. According to an official, the state government has set up vaccination booths in schools to accommodate more and more number of beneficiaries. At present, about 500 vaccine centres in Delhi are vaccinating people above the age of 45 years. Three large private hospitals Apollo, Max and Fortis have started vaccination of people in the age group of 18-45 years from Saturday at limited vaccination centres.

The AAP government in Delhi has placed orders for 1.34 crore doses, which will be delivered in the next three months. Out of these, 67 lakh doses are of covishield of Serum Institute in India and the first consignment of 3 lakh doses will reach Delhi within the first week of May. The Delhi government is using electoral rolls to ascertain the actual number of eligible beneficiaries and according to it there are about 6 million people above the age of 45 years. A total of about 1.5 crore people are expected to be vaccinated in Delhi.
