New Delhi: Senior Congress leader DK Shivakumar who was detained in the money laundering case has been sent to Tihar Jail. DK Shivkumar was admitted to the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in Delhi for treatment. After being discharged from the hospital, on Thursday, Congress leader DK Shivakumar was given access to Tihar Jail.

DK Shivakumar has been kept in ward number 2 of Tihar Jail number 7. Former finance minister and veteran Congress leader P. Chidambaram is also locked in the same prison complex. Chidambaram is accused of money laundering in the INX Media case. Earlier, on 17 September, a Delhi court sent former Karnataka minister and veteran Congress leader DK Shivakumar to 14 days judicial custody in the money laundering case. The judge told the Directorate of Movement (ED) to take Shivkumar to the doctor, take care of his health and then interrogate him. After this, he was taken to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital.

The ED had sought his five-day custody. Opposing this, Shivkumar's lawyer Abhishek Manu Singhvi had argued that his clients are suffering from serious diseases including high blood pressure. The ED arrested him on September 3 after questioning Congress leader DK Shivakumar for four days in a money laundering case.
