Delhi Court summons BJP MP Hans Raj Hans in this case

New Delhi: A Delhi court has issued summons to BJP MP and Sufi singer Hans Raj Hans from the north-west Delhi Lok Sabha seat for allegedly giving vague information in an election affidavit. Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) Dharmendra Singh took cognizance of the charge sheet of Delhi police filed under the Representation of the People Act on January 12 and issued summons to singer Hans Raj Hans to appear on January 18.

The Delhi Police has filed a charge sheet in connection with Hans for allegedly giving vague information on his education and income tax liabilities of himself and his family. The court also sent a notice to the investigating officer and ordered him to submit a report on the progress made in the investigation. The Congress leader Rajesh Lilothia had registered a criminal case against Hans Raj Hans for allegedly giving a wrong affidavit during the general elections of 2019.

In the 2019 general elections, BJP candidate Hans Raj Hans had won a resounding victory with more than 5 lakh votes in the north-west Delhi seat. Hans Raj Hans defeated ' AAP ' candidate Guggan Singh and Rajesh Lilothia of the Congress and won. In the triangular contest in this parliamentary constituency, all the three major parties faced tough competition.
