New Delhi: A Delhi court on Monday sent climate activist Disha Ravi, accused in the toolkit case, on a one-day police remand. However, the police demanded a five-day police remand, but the court rejected its request. The decision on Disha's bail is going to come on Tuesday.

At the end of the three-day judicial custody, Disha Ravi was produced before Metropolitan Magistrate Pankaj Sharma at Patiala House. The investigating officer, requesting the court to accept a five-day police remand of Disha, said that co-accused Nikita Jacob and Shantanu Muluk had joined the investigation on Monday. He said that even before, Disha has been accusing co-accused of calling herself innocent. Apart from this, if necessary, all the accused will be questioned face to face. A five-day remand should be granted in the interest of investigation.

The lawyer appearing for Disha opposed the remand, saying that the investigating agency has already questioned his client for five days remand. The defence counsel said that when Nikita and Shantanu are not in custody, why is my client's remand being sought. She may also be questioned in the context of the statements of both in judicial custody. The prosecution opposed this and asked why police custody is being seen as a punishment. It is the right of any investigating agency.
