New Delhi: A Delhi court has advised Indian Medical Association (IMA) President Professor Dr. Johnrose Austin Jayalal not to use IMA platform to propagate any religion. However, the court also quashed a petition seeking defamation case against him for insulting Hinduism. Additional Sessions Judge Ajay Goel pronounced the verdict.

He dismissed the shoot filed by a man named Rohit Jha in a verdict pronounced last Thursday. ASJ Goyal wrote in his order, "Religion does not teach enmity among themselves, Hindi we are watan hai hindoshtoon hamara, sare jahan se achcha hindostan hamara". The judge said that the word 'Hindi' written by Iqbal speaks of all Indians and not Hindus, even if their caste and religion are different. Judge Goyal further wrote that this is the beauty of secularism.

The court said that Dr. JA Jayalal has assured during the hearing that he will not indulge in such activities (propagation of Christian religion through IMA) and hence there is no need to give any order against him.
