In Uttar Pradesh, the sentence of expelled BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar, who was convicted in the rape case of a minor girl in the Unnao district in 2017, will be announced on Friday.

According to media reports, additional sessions judge Dharmesh Sharma will pronounce the sentence to Kuldeep, who was convicted in the rape, during a crucial hearing in Delhi's Tis Hazari court. Kuldeep Singh Sengar, who was convicted in the rape of a minor after the abduction, has also been charged with POCSO, so the court can pronounce the maximum sentence to life imprisonment.

In the last hearing, the Tis Hazari court on December 16 convicted Kuldeep Singh Sengar in section 376 and section 6 of POCSO. The sentence was then debated on December 17, in which the lawyer of the victim's party demanded life imprisonment under the maximum sentence, while also demanding maximum compensation. The offense provides for a sentence of at least 7 years and a maximum of 10 years to the guilty.

The Tis Hazari court had also slammed the CBI for convicting MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar in a hearing held on December 16.
