New Delhi: The outbreak of dengue in the national capital Delhi is on the rise. According to statistics, 1,537 dengue cases have been reported in Delhi so far. Out of these, 6 patients have also lost their lives. In the last week alone, 531 new dengue cases have been registered in Delhi-NCR. Moreover, 1,196 dengue cases have been reported in October alone, compared to 217 in September.

These figures are enough to show that dengue is now becoming out of control in the capital. According to data released by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, this is the third time in the last 5 years that so many dengue cases have been reported in October. Earlier, 1,517 dengue cases were reported in 2016 and 2,022 in 2017. While, 1,114 cases were registered in 2018, 787 in 2019 and 346 in 2020.

Moreover, 6 people have lost their lives due to dengue in Delhi so far this year. This number is the highest since 2017. There were 10-10 deaths in 2016 and 2017. 4 in 2018, 2 in 2019 and one patient died of dengue in 2020.  According to data released by the municipal corporation, the highest number of 134 cases registered last week was from the North Delhi Municipal Corporation. Thereafter, 127 patients met the South Delhi Municipal Corporation and 69 patients from the East Delhi Municipal Corporation. On the other hand, the highest number of 122 cases have been reported so far in South Delhi, 120 cases in Central Delhi, 96-96 cases in Shah (South) and West Delhi. On the other hand, 89 cases have been registered from Najafgarh.
