New Delhi: The central government has not sought any data from the state government on the number of deaths caused by oxygen shortage in the capital, deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia of the country's capital Delhi on Tuesday claimed. Sisodia said that even though no information has been sought from us from the Centre, we will give our reply to them ourselves.

Sisodia further said, "In today's newspapers, I read the news that the Central Government is saying that it has questioned the State Governments as to how many people have died due to lack of oxygen in them. Newspaper reports suggest that 12 subas said there were no deaths and one state said they had died." Sisodia further said, 'A few days ago, I read in the newspapers that the Central Government has given time to the state governments till August 13 and asked how many deaths have been caused due to lack of oxygen. I am constantly asking my officers that a letter has come from the Central Government. But we have not received any such letter till date.'

Sisodia claimed that he did not receive any letter from the central government seeking information on the deaths due to lack of oxygen. He said that when information is not sought from the states, where will they give it from? Sisodia further said, 'There was an oxygen crisis in Delhi, but without investigation, we cannot say how many deaths took place. We had set up a committee to look into it and stopped it by asking the Lieutenant Governor.'
