Delhi FC defeated Ambernath United Atlanta FC 3-1 to win the second division title and make it to the I-League football competition for the first time. Playing for the first time in the second division, Mumbai's Atlanta FC needed only one point to win the title, but could not run one in front of the Delhi team.

For Delhi, Bali Gagandeep scored two goals while Vanlalhariatzuala scored one goal. The Delhi team had earlier reached the final round of the I-League qualifiers in 2021 but in the end it was in third place. Earlier, there were reports that Group G matches are going to be played in China from September 6 to 12. A total of 43 teams will participate in the qualifiers, which are divided into 11 groups. There are four teams in 10 groups and three teams in one group. Each group match is scheduled to be played on a round-robin basis at the same venue. The top team from each group and the four best second-placed teams are going to qualify for the U-23 Asia Cup.

Qatar has been given direct entry into the tournament due to being the host. The tournament will be played between April 15 and May 3 next year. The AFC U-23 Asian Cup is also set to serve as a qualifier for the Paris Olympics. The top three teams in this competition will qualify directly for the Olympics while the fourth team is going to be seen playing in the playoffs. India are scheduled to play their first match in the AFC U-23 Asian Qualifiers against Maldives on September 6. After which he faced China on September 9 and the United Arab Emirates on September 12.
