Delhi Golf Club announces 50 lakhs prize money to the Rio Olympians and Paralympians

A pleasing gesture from the Delhi Golf Club is announced for the Olympians & Paralympians. Total prize money of 50 Lakhs has been announced to be given to the athletes who have received a medal in the Rio and Paralympics Paralympics 2016.

There is no distinction in prize money for those with able body and Paralympians, says the president of the DGC, Mr. Rajesh Dhingra.

They only variation in amount is on the basis of the stand of the medal.

  • The Gold winners- 10 lakhs
  • The Silver winners- 7.5 lakhs
  • The Bronze winners- 5 lakhs

The awardees are: Devendra Jhajharia, Paralympics Gold Medalist in Javelin gets Rs 10 lakhs, Thangavelu Mariyappan, Paralympics Gold Medalist in High Jump gets Rs 10 lakhs, PV Sindhu, Olympics Silver Medalist in Badminton gets Rs 7.5 lakhs, Deepa Malik, Paralympics Silver Medalist in Shot Put gets 7.5 lakhs, Varun Bhati, Paralympics Bronze Medalist in High Jump gets Rs 5 lakhs, and Sakshi Malik, Olympics Bronze Medalist in Wrestling gets Rs 5 lakhs.

The president of the club says that they are a golf club but they also know what talent costs and how to appreciate ones’ effort.
