Delhi government plans to deploy 1,500 electric buses under the DTC soon

Good news for the Delhiites recently Minister Kailash Gahlot stated that the Delhi government will shortly deploy approximately 1,500 electric buses under the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) in order to electrify the entire public transportation fleet. Convergence Energy Services Ltd (CESL), a central government body, has recently issued a tender costing around 5,500 crore to procure 5,580 electric buses, including 130 double-deckers.

In five metros, CESL plans to deploy 5,450 single-decker buses and 130 double-decker buses.According to the announcement, the first batch of electric buses would be operational by July of this year. The CESL intends to assist state governments in attaining their electric mobility goals as well as assisting them in building a strong infrastructure throughout the country, according to the statement.

Arvind Kejriwal, the Delhi Chief Minister, christened the first DTC e-bus on Monday, announcing that 300 more will be added to the public transportation system by April. He also stated that the government will bring 2,000 more electric buses to the city in the coming years.
