Delhi government schools to take pledge, raise awareness about pollution in Yamuna

New Delhi: The pollution in river, ponds and other water bodies is increasing to a great extent which is reflecting negatively on the health of human as well as marine life. In order to save the environment and rivers Students of all the Delhi government schools will be taking pledges. The students will also be finding new techniques and ways to reduce pollution in the river Yamuna.

The Directorate of Education laid down a detailed action plan on the matter, last week. In order to raise awareness environment melas, plantation drives and visits to wastewater treatment plans- the action plan spans over nine months that students will engage in.

As per the report of Hindustan Times (HT), the action plan also includes various aspects of Yamuna Pollution and lists the environmental activities.

A two-member National Greeb Tribunal- appointed Yamuna Pollution monitoring committee had asked the education department to make an action plan and how lessons could be imparted to school students.  The action plan would begin with the training of school heads, eco-club charges and NSS programme officers on waste management, sewage management, recycling of waste during May-June. Meanwhile, the State Council of Education Research and Training (SCERT).

Delhi Metro to introduce bycycles, e-scooters at five stations

Delhi Jal Board and the Department of Environment and Industries along with NGOs will also develop a training module for the plan.
