The ongoing campaign against open burning in the National Capital has been extended till June 30 , the Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai said on Monday. The campaign to ban open burning of rubbish and biomass, which began on April 12, was set to expire on Monday.

The campaign is part of the city government's summer action plan, which includes city forests, park redevelopment, water body rejuvenation, sapling planting, tree transplantation monitoring, the phase-out of single-use plastics, the creation of an eco-waste park, and urban farming and so on.

Stubble burning, dust, waste burning, pyrotechnics, the creation of a smog tower, the identification of additional polluting sites, the strengthening of green war rooms, and vehicular emissions were all part of the plan.

Last year, the local government created a 10-point action plan to prevent air pollution from deteriorating over the winter months.

"The anti-open burning campaign, which saw streamlined steps to monitor and prevent incidents of open burning in Delhi 24 hours a day for a week, has concluded the inspection," Environment Minister Gopal Rai said.
