New Delhi: Delhi's Kejriwal government has set up a three-member committee to increase revenue from excise duty. The committee will also look into the easing of liquor pricing mechanism and excise duty manipulation and theft in the liquor business. The committee will also submit a report on changes in the excise duty structure, which will facilitate business for the restaurant and hospitality industry in Delhi and help in getting jobs due to the corona epidemic.

It will also be consulted by organizations and people associated with the industry. Deputy Commissioner (Excise) Sandeep Mishra and Additional Commissioner (T&T) Anand Kumar Tiwari have been appointed as members of the committee headed by excise commissioner. The committee will submit its report to Deputy CM Manish Sisodia within the next 15 days.

According to the Delhi government, the corona epidemic has the highest impact on the hotel and hospitality industry and the industry has suffered the most. Millions of people are employed in the industry and the industry produces about 8% of jobs in Delhi, but the corona has adversely affected the industry. With the people's jobs going, the revenue in the Delhi government's treasury has also come down.
