New Delhi: On November 6, the government of Delhi ordered an investigation into the collapse of a portion of a multilevel parking garage in Green Park, New Delhi, and instructed officials to submit a report within 15 days. Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, speaking at a press conference, claimed that the incident was caused by corruption in the BJP-led South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC), which operates the parking facility.

The Deputy Chief Minister said, "I have ordered the Delhi Government's director of local bodies to have the parking collapse incident investigated by the PWD [Public Works Department] engineer-in-chief and submit a report in 15 days." He stated that depending on the findings of the investigation, appropriate action would be taken. SDMC, East Delhi Municipal Corporation, and North Delhi Municipal Corporation are all BJP-controlled municipal corporations in Delhi.

The Deputy Chief Minister mentioned, the multilevel parking that was inaugurated in November 2020 collapsed in just one year. There were no injuries reported as a result of the incident. The Deputy Chief Minister also stated that the Delhi government is on high alert and is keeping a close eye on the Zika virus cases that have been reported in Uttar Pradesh.

Earlier, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) accused the BJP-run South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) of corruption in the facility's construction and demanded an investigation.
