New Delhi: The hearing in the apex court on rising pollution in the national capital has now taken another turn. The Delhi government has filed an application in the court. The Delhi government has blamed coal-fired thermal power stations in Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh for polluting the capital.

The petition said that the governments of neighbouring states had talked about setting up gas power stations instead, but nothing has happened in this regard so far. The petition said that in addition hundreds of brick kilns around Delhi are also responsible for pollution. All these states are responsible for increasing pollution even due to stubble burning. A bench of Justices Naveen Sinha and R Subhash Reddy will now hear the matter. The Delhi government has appealed to the Central Government to set up fuel gas diffuser technology in these ten coal based thermal power stations located around Delhi, staying the old order of the Central Pollution Control Board in the case.

CPCB had extended the deadline for technology reforms in these power stations. According to the application, the apex court should direct the Power Plants Regulatory Authority, state and central governments and their pollution control boards to provide online monitoring data on their websites continuously at real time
