NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Monday, September 12, asked St. Stephen's College to issue a new prospectus giving 100 percent weightage to Common University Entrance Test (CUET) 2022 score for non-minority candidates applying for undergraduate courses, confirming no interviews for the admissions.
The Delhi University (DU) order to withdraw its admission prospectus and permit admissions through CUET was being challenged by St. Stephen's College in a case before a bench that included Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice Subramonium Prasad.
The court's judgment stated that the assisted minority educational institutions that are associated with the university must adhere to its standards and procedures and that the college must withdraw its entrance brochure and publish a notice announcing the revised admission procedure.
The court also stated that the Delhi University could not require a single merit list for candidates who belong to the Christian community, regardless of their affiliation with a particular denomination, sub-sex, or sub-activities within the community.
Students from all categories, including general/unreserved seats, will be admitted on the basis of an 85:15 ratio, according to St Stephen's prospectus for admissions 2022–2023 The CUET would receive 85% of the weight, and interviews would receive 15% of the weight.
However, the choice is in conflict with Delhi University admissions policies, which sparked a dispute between Delhi University and St. Stephen's College.
