New Delhi: Delhi High Court has banned the slaughter of cattle at squares. Court made the strongly comment while hearing a PIL filed against illegal slaughter ingrediment in Ghazipur mandi. Chief Justice DN Patel and Justice C. A bench of Harishankar asked the East Delhi Municipal Corporation, under which rule and where the cutting is allowed. The bench questioned the question when the counsel for the corporation said there was a policy to regulate such activity. On this, the bench said that the question is not of policy.

You have to explain under what rules and regulations where such activity is allowed. Otherwise, you have to close such shops. The corporation rules in the August 8 hearing. Gauri Maulekhi, who works on animal rights, has filed a PIL alleging that animals are illegally harvested in Ghazipur mandi in East Delhi. His lawyer Raj Panjwani said that there is a provision to regulate such activity under the Prevention of Animal Cruelty Act and the Environment Protection Act and the Food Protection Act. The high court had on August 31 last year directed the Delhi Agriculture Marketing Board to close the cattle slaughter shops in Ghazipur mandi without the permission of the Delhi Pollution Control Board.
