New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Wednesday said it will hear a petition seeking registration of FIR against former Congress president Rahul Gandhi on charges of revealing the identity of a nine-year-old Dalit girl on September 27. The nine-year-old girl was allegedly raped and then murdered in southwest Delhi. Rahul Gandhi is alleged to have published a picture of the girl with her parents on Twitter and revealed her identity.

A bench of High Court Chief Justice D N Patel and Justice Jyoti Singh refused to issue notices at this stage on a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Makrand Suresh Mhadelkar and asked the parties to "keep one to two pages of arguments ready till further hearing". Senior advocate Sajan Puwaya, representing Twitter, told the court that the tweet being talked about has been deleted as it is against the platform's own policy. The account has been locked and the tweet does not exist, Puvaya said. '

However, Mhadelkar's lawyer Gautam Jha disagreed with Twitter's claim and urged the court to seek an affidavit.  Before adjourning the hearing, the court said, "If this is the attitude, we are not issuing notices." Senior advocate R S Cheema appeared for Rahul Gandhi.
