New Delhi: The Delhi High Court has issued notices to the Centre and the Delhi government asking the Centre and the Delhi government to respond on a plea seeking to link people's movable and unmovable property with Aadhaar cards. The petitioner sought guidelines to the Centre and the Delhi government to link the movable and immovable property papers of citizens with Aadhaar numbers to prevent corruption, production of black money and Benami transactions.

The petition was filed by BJP spokesperson Ashwini Upadhyay. The petitioner also said that it is the duty of the government to take appropriate action to prevent corruption and attach Benami properties created illegally. Earlier, the Delhi High Court had sought a response from the Centre on a plea challenging the new ordinance allowing Aadhaar to open mobile phone SIMs and bank accounts.

The petitioner had alleged that through the ordinance, the government had allowed private sector companies to use Aadhaar indirectly, while the Supreme Court had stayed it. According to the petition, the government has overturned the apex court's decision by amending the Indian Telegraph Act. The petitioner termed the ordinance as unconstitutional and demanded its repeal.
