New Delhi: The Delhi High Court has summoned senior Congress leaders Jairam Ramesh and Pawan Khera on a defamation plea filed by Union Minister Smriti Irani. Not only this, but the High Court has also directed Pawan Khera to immediately delete the tweet in which he had accused Smriti Irani's daughter of running the bar through an illegal license. In fact, the two leaders, while holding a press conference, had accused Smriti Irani's 18-year-old college daughter of running the bar through an illegal license.

On behalf of Smriti Irani, the high court was told that her daughter has nothing to do with the time the Congress leader is constantly referring to. But due to political malice, my daughter's name has been associated with that bar. Baseless and fabricated allegations have been made in this case. The Delhi High Court has directed Pawan Khera to immediately delete the derogatory tweet on the allegations of bar licence dispute. The matter will come up for further hearing on August 18.

The Delhi High Court has issued summons to Congress leaders Jairam Naresh, Pawan Khera and Netta D'Souza in a civil defamation case filed by Union Minister Smriti Irani and asked them to appear before it with a reply in the next hearing. The summons has also been issued as it is a civil suit of defamation.
