New Delhi: The Delhi High Court has dismissed a petition questioning the credibility of electronic voting machines (EVM). Dismissing the petition, the Delhi High Court termed the petition as a petition filed for publicity and imposed a fine of 10,000 rupees on the petitioner. The court observed that the petitioner questioned the EVM but did not have any specific information on the EVM.

While hearing a petition in the Delhi High Court seeking a ballot paper instead of EVM for the upcoming elections, the petitioner said that elections have once again started through ballot paper instead of EVM in many countries of the world. The petitioner said that countries that had also started EVM have now returned to the ballot paper. The petitioner said that even politicians of many parties in our country do not trust EVM, only the Central Election Commission.

During the hearing, the court questioned the petitioner as to what grounds you have on the basis of which you are saying that there may be a disturbance in the EVM. The petitioner said Germany's supreme court has also declared the use of EVM unconstitutional.
