Delhi High Court sends notice to Hansraj Hans, case of giving wrong information in the affidavit

New Delhi: BJP MP Hansraj Hans from North West Delhi Lok Sabha seat and the Election Commission have been issued notices by the Delhi High Court seeking their response. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Congress candidate Rajesh Lilothia had filed a petition in the High Court saying that Hansraj Hans had given false information in the election affidavit and hence his election should be dismissed.

It may be mentioned that Hansraj Hans defeated Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)'s Guggan Singh in delhi's only reserved seat in the North West seat. Rajesh Lilothia of the Congress was third in this seat. Even during the election, you had made several serious allegations against Hansraj Hans. AAP leader Rajendra Kumar Gautam told the press that Hansraj Hans is a Hindu, not a Muslim. Gautam, quoting the press, had said that Hansraj had accepted Islam in 2014. So he is not eligible to contest from a safe seat from anywhere.

In a tweet, Delhi CM and AAP President Arvind Kejriwal questioned Hansraj's candidature over Gautam's revelations. However, Hansraj Hans termed the allegations as baseless and sought legal action against Aam Aadmi Party and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal.
