New Delhi: After the Supreme Court's decision in the Ayodhya Ram Mandir and Babri Masjid case, the petition seeking to implement the Uniform Civil Code (Uniform Civil Code) will now be heard in the Delhi High Court today. The Delhi High Court had also issued a notice to the Union Home Ministry and the Law Commission regarding this matter.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and advocate Ashwini Kumar Upadhyay and others have filed a PIL regarding the Uniform Civil Code. Upadhyay, in his petition, asked the government to draft a Uniform Civil Code within three months under Article 44 of the Constitution keeping in view the customs of all religions and sects, civil laws of developed countries and international conventions or It has requested to direct the formation of high-level expert committee.

He has also demanded to direct the publication of that draft on the official website for at least 60 days to take wide public debate and reactions. In the PIL, Upadhyay has said that, 'the purpose of Article 44 is to implement the Uniform Civil Code, which is very important for brotherhood, unity and national integration'.
