Delhi hospitals take back their petitions from high court related oxygen shortage

New Delhi: Several petitions filed by hospitals in the Delhi High Court over lack of oxygen have been withdrawn. Hospitals today told the High Court that they are now getting enough oxygen, so they want to withdraw the petitions. Delhi HC has just disposed of petitions from hospitals.

Earlier, a PIL seeking compensation for the death due to non-oxygen intake was heard in the Delhi High Court. The high court today asked the central government, delhi government if any policy can be formulated to pay compensation, though the court did not issue notices to both the governments on the petition in the case. The Delhi High Court asked the government to consider the petition as a representation. The petition demanded that the families of corona patients who died due to non-oxygen inhospitals or during home isolation should get compensation from the government.

Let us tell you that there was an acute shortage of oxygen in Delhi during April and May. The situation was so bad that hospitals themselves were asked to get oxygen by putting urgent petitions in court. Several hospitals also told the court that they had lost their lives due to oxygen loss.
