New Delhi: Eid ul Fitr will be celebrated all over the country on Monday. Shahi Imam Ahmad Bukhari of Jama Masjid in Delhi and Mufti Mukarram, Shahi Imam of Fatehpuri Masjid, announced that no moon sighting has been reported from anywhere in the country. So Eid ul Fitr will be celebrated on Monday.

Shahi Imam has urged people to celebrate Eid by staying in homes with utmost simplicity due to Coronavirus epidemic and nationwide lockdown. Also offer Namaz at home. The lockdown prohibits the public from going to the mosques, so take precaution. Eid ul Fitr is the biggest festival of Muslims, which is celebrated on the completion of the holy month of Ramadan. This time the festival of Eid will be celebrated on 25 May. Eid-ul-Fitr is celebrated after observing the moon after observing 29 or 30 days of Ramadan. The month of Ramadan ends with Eid-ul-Fitr.

The Islamic calendar begins with Shawwal with Eid-ul-Fitr. Eid is the only day on which fasting is not observed by the Muslim community. Eid is celebrated after seeing Eid's moon, i.e. the month of Shawwal starts, so its date varies across the world.
