Expected Traffic Congestion

The movement of Kanwariyas and the setup of "Kanwaria Camps" on the roadside are likely to cause traffic congestion at various locations, including Najafgarh Firni, Rohtak Road, Pankha Road, Dev Prakash Shastri Marg, Nangloi-Najafgarh Road, Outer Ring Road, Rani Jhansi Road (from Baraf Khana Chowk to Fire Station), Boulevard Road, Azad Market Chowk, Gokul Puri Flyover, 66 Foota Road, Maujpur Chowk, Badarpur T Point, Mathura Road, and NH-08 from Dhaula Kuan Metro Station to Rajokri Border.

Commuters Advice

Commuters  are advised to plan their routes in advance to avoid inconvenience and delays. The Delhi Traffic Police have made arrangements to segregate the movement of Kanwariyas and other road users to minimize disruption. "Devotees and road users are advised to follow traffic rules and obey the directions of policemen on duty," stated a traffic police officer. Violations will be monitored through on-the-spot prosecution and by photography/videography.

Rain-Induced Traffic Disruptions

In addition to the Kanwar Yatra, recent moderate rainfall has caused waterlogging in several parts of Delhi and Noida, affecting traffic flow. Impacted areas include:

  • Chatta Rail Chowk
  • Syama Prasad Mukherjee Marg
  • Nigam Bodh Ghat
  • Anand Parvat
  • Zakhira underpass
  • Vir Banda Bairagi Marg

The India Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for the next two days, forecasting moderate to intense rain. On July 24, the weather office recorded a maximum temperature of 36.2 degrees Celsius and a relative humidity of 68%. The Air Quality Index (AQI) was satisfactory at 93.

Due to waterlogging at Chatta Rail Chowk, traffic has been affected on Syama Prasad Mukherjee Marg. Diversion points include Chatta Rail Red Light and Lothian Road. Commuters are advised to use alternate routes like Kodia Pul, ODRS Pul Mithai, Mori Gate, and Boulevard Road.

Motorists are encouraged to adhere to traffic advisories and be mindful of road conditions to ensure smooth travel during this period of disruption.
