New Delhi: There are frequent reports of a confrontation between the Arvind Kejriwal government of Delhi and the Lieutenant Governor (LG) of the state. At the same time, now the LG of Delhi Vinay Kumar Saxena has returned about 47 files to the Chief Minister's Office (CMO). Actually, all these files were not signed by CM Arvind Kejriwal and LG has asked Kejriwal to sign it. Along with this, LG has directed the officials of the Directorate of Education to send only the files signed by the officer to the office in future.

While talking to the media, LG House officials said that 'LG has directed all the officers doing statutory work in accordance with the provisions of the Delhi Education Act and Rules, 1973, to follow the pedagogy/instructions under their own signature in future. Will issue orders. It may be noted that not signing (which is mandatory as per the rules) has now become a norm in the Delhi government.' The direction comes amid the disposal of an appeal by the LG in favour of a primary school whose recognition was rejected by the DOI.

Officials have said that the school was rejected even after meeting all the criteria. According to officials, while hearing the matter of primary school Ganga International School, Rohini, the LG observed that the Department (DOI), which has been entrusted with the development of school education in Delhi, has not paid full attention to it. The LG then ruled that the education department is expected to be a facilitator and not act as a hindrance. He also slammed the DOI, saying that the irresponsible and harsh attitude of its officers was leading to unnecessary litigation.

The LG directed the DOI to immediately grant necessary recognition to the school pending unreasonably since 2009, fulfilling all other criteria. Officials said the DoI had no reason to stick to the impugned order. The matter was heard by LG on July 27 and the respondents were DOI, Delhi Government and Delhi Development Authority (DDA).
