NEW DELHI: Delhi Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena has sought the removal of Jasmine Shah from the position of Vice Chairman, Dialogue and Development Commission (DDC) for "misusing" his office for political motives.

In a letter, the lieutenant Governor instructed Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister, to forbid Shah from utilising any "privileges and benefits" connected to the position of Vice Chairman, DDC, with immediate effect, pending "a decision that is taken by the Chief Minister" in this regard.

The planning department of the Delhi government issued an administrative order to this effect on Thursday., November 17. Jasmine Shah was given two chances to respond, but he did not, said an official.

Instead, he said that the Minister of the Planning department had received the response, it adds.
On November 4, the Lieutenant Governor office sent a letter to the Chief Misnter office requesting Shah's response, but it didn't receive one. Lt Governor Saxena then demanded his dismissal, and in the meanwhile, Shah's office was locked late on Thursday to stop any more abuse.

"Vide order No. 2/12/P1g/DDCD/2022/10895-10900 dated 17th Nov 2022, the honorable Lt. Governor of GNCTD has ordered that Jasmine Shah be restricted from the discharge of duties as Vice Chairman, DDCD and to use any facilities and privileges related the office of Vice Chairman, DDCD with immediate effect," the order reads.
