Delhi Metro Services for Independence Day: Timings, Parking, and More

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) will maintain its regular schedule on 15th August throughout its network. To accommodate passengers attending the Independence Day ceremony, the Delhi Metro train services on all Lines will commence from 5:00 AM at all terminal stations. After 6:00 AM, the train schedule will revert to the normal timetable.

For security considerations, DMRC has announced that parking facilities will be unavailable at stations from 6:00 AM on the 14th of August until 2:00 PM on the 15th of August.

In a tweet on their official Twitter account, DMRC stated, "In order to facilitate passengers attending the Independence Day ceremony on the 15th of August 2023 (Tuesday), train services on all Delhi Metro Lines will initiate from 5:00 AM at all terminal stations. Trains will operate with a frequency of 30 minutes across all Lines until 6:00 AM. Parking facilities will NOT BE AVAILABLE at stations from 6:00 AM on 14/08/2023 until 2:00 PM on 15/08/2023 due to security measures. However, train services will continue according to the regular schedule."

In a recent announcement, DMRC has informed the public that Gate No. 3 at Rajiv Chowk Metro Station will be closed for civil renovation work starting from the 12th of August. Passengers are advised to use Gate No. 4 for both entry and exit.

Furthermore, the Delhi Traffic Police has released an advisory for the upcoming day, the 13th of August, in light of the Independence Day Full Dress Rehearsal. Commuters are urged to avoid certain roads and consider alternative routes during the specified timings.

Roads to be avoided from 4:00 AM to 11:00 AM:

Vehicles without parking labels for the rehearsals are advised to steer clear of C-Hexagon, India Gate, Copernics Marg, Mandi House, Sikandra Road, W Point, A point Tikal Marg, Mathura Road, BSZ Marg, Netaji Subhash Marg, JL Nehru Marg, and the Ring Road between Nizamuddin Khatta and ISBT Kashmere Gate, as well as the Outer Ring Road from Nizamuddin Khatta to ISBT via Salimarbagh Bypass.
