New Delhi: Overall air quality in the country's capital Delhi has been recorded in the 'medium' category on Wednesday. According to the Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research System (SAFAR), it is expected to reach the 'poor' category in the coming three days due to increased stubble burning cases in the country's capital. According to the Central Pollution Control Board, Delhi's Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 195 on Wednesday.

However, air quality was recorded in the 'poor' category in many parts of Delhi including Anand Vihar, Chandni Chowk and Jahangirpuri. These areas recorded AQI 263, 242 and 257 respectively. According to central pollution control board (CPCB) data, ITO and IGI airports were recorded in the 'medium' category with AQI 175 and 166. According to the bulletin of the SAFAR, 'Delhi's AQI is in the middle category. Incidents of stubble burning are expected to increase due to dry weather in north India (upwind region) in the next 3 days, which is expected to increase PM2.5.'

Let us tell you that PM10 increases in dry conditions. Thus, the overall AQI is expected to be in the moderate to poor category for the next 3 days. The fire count in the Northwest region is 348 and its share in PM2.5 is 8 per cent as westerly winds are partly favourable.
