New Delhi: A man was wiping a scooter with the tricolour in the country's capital Delhi. Delhi Police said that this 52-year-old man has been arrested in this case. However, he was released after some time. The man has been identified as Irfan, son of Ghulam Mohammad. The incident took place in northeast Delhi's Bhajanpura area. Police said Irfan is a resident of the North Ghonda area.

The matter came to light when a video of the incident started going viral on social media. This video was made by the locals. In this video, Irfan Mohammad can be seen cleaning the dust off his white scooter with the tricolour and wiping it. According to media reports, a senior police officer has informed that legal proceedings have been initiated in this case and a case has been registered under Section 2 of the Prevention of Insults to National Pride Act, 1971 at Bhajanpura police station.

The official has told that the tricolour was used to wipe the scooter. Both that tricolour and scooter have been confiscated. He said that the accused has been asked to join the investigation. At the same time, Irfan has now clarified that he did not do this intentionally, it was done by mistake. We have asked him to join the investigation and appear before the court when called.
