New Delhi: Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana visited sub-inspector Meda Lal, who was injured during the communal violence in Jahangirpuri on the day of Hanuman Jayanti, at his residence and assured him of all possible help from the department. In a statement, the officials said that the Police Commissioner visited Meda Lal's movement and said that the entire force was proud of her courage and sense of duty, which helped control the unruly crowd.  

The statement said that Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana assured the sub-inspector that the department will provide all possible help to him in this difficult time. There were incidents of violent clashes and arson between two communities after stone-pelting during a procession taken out on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti in Jahangirpuri on Saturday, in which eight police personnel, including sub-inspector Meda Lal, and a local person were injured. During this time, Meda Lal was shot.

Delhi Police has arrested a total of 21 people, including Aslam, the man who allegedly opened fire on sub-inspector Meda Lal, and the mastermind of the violence, in connection with the case. Along with this, two minors have also been detained.
