New Delhi: The Delhi Police has recently denied some media reports that there was not enough evidence in the investigation against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. In an official statement, Delhi Police spokesperson Suman Nalwa said, several media channels are reporting that Delhi Police has not found sufficient evidence in the cases registered against the former WFI president and the final report in the case is yet to be submitted before the concerned court. It is to clarify that this news is "false" and the matter is being investigated with utmost depth/sensitivity.

Earlier, a report had quoted highly placed sources in Delhi Police as saying, "So far we have not received enough evidence to arrest Brij Bhushan Singh. The report has to be filed in the court within 15 days. It can be in the form of a charge sheet or a final report. There is no supporting evidence to prove the wrestlers' claim."

Delhi Police sources had further said, "The punishment under the POCSO section mentioned in the FIR is less than 7 years. Therefore, as demanded by the offender, the investigating officer cannot arrest him and the accused is neither influencing the witness nor destroying the evidence." It is worth mentioning that wrestlers are adamant about the arrest of Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. Last Tuesday, several wrestlers, including Sakshi Malik, Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia, had arrived in Haridwar along with their supporters to immerse their medals.
