New Delhi: Ahead of Independence Day, Delhi Police has beefed up safety at the Red Fort due to security reasons. Police have erected a wall by installing containers at the main gate of the Red Fort. Police officials said this is the first time that the police have erected such a high wall. Police said these containers will be decorated with paintings.

A senior police officer said on Saturday that the containers have been kept in such a way that no one can see inside the Mughal-era complex. PM addresses the nation from Red Fort on Independence Day. No one from the Chandni Chowk area can see inside the Red Fort. Hundreds of protesters demanding repeal of agricultural laws had forcibly entered the Red Fort on Republic Day this year. He even put up a religious flag on the ramparts of the fort from where the PM unfurls the tricolor on Independence Day.

Clashes were witnessed between protesters and police during the tractor parade of the same farmers. A total of 394 police personnel were injured in the violence while 30 police vehicles were damaged. In July, Delhi's current police commissioner Balaji Srivastava had issued orders banning air items like drones, paragliders, and hot air balloons from flying. The order will remain in force in the national capital till August 16.
