New Delhi: The Delhi High Court has imposed a fine of 25,000 rupees on the police in a case related to last year's north-east Delhi riots. The high court had asked the police to file a case on the appeal of the Ghonda resident. The man had said that he had been shot in the eye due to the riots. Delhi Police had opposed the order to register an FIR. The high court on Wednesday made strong remarks on the Delhi Police on the same case.

The High Court said, "It appears that the police made way for the criminals to escape in a separate FIR and sadly the police officers failed to perform constitutional duties due to their investigation. With this, the Delhi High Court has imposed a penalty on bhajanpura police. The penalty has been imposed on SHO and other senior officers." Additional Sessions Judge Vinod Yadav has also sent a copy of the order to the Police Commissioner.

He said the level of investigation and monitoring of the case should also come to the eyes of the Police Commissioner. The police investigation was ridiculous. The court asked the police commissioner to take decisions for reforms in view of the case. In October 2020, the Metropolitan Magistrate had told the Delhi Police that Md. An FIR should be lodged within 24 hours on Nasir's complaint. Nasir had stated in his complaint that he was fired upon on February 24, 2020. A bullet hit his left eye. Nasir had criminalised Naresh Tyagi, Subhash Tyagi, Uttam Tyagi, Sushil, Naresh Gaur and others in his complaint. When no FIR was lodged, Nasir approached the court.
