New Delhi: On the controversy over the removal of idols of Lord Ganesha at the entrance of the mosque at Qutub Minar, the Saket court has directed the ASI not to remove idols of Lord Ganesha kept in the Quwwat ul Islam mosque premises. At the same time, the petitioner in his new petition regarding the right to worship already in this case has said that the idols of Lord Ganesha should not be displaced as per the suggestion of the National Monument Authority (NMA) in the National Museum or any other place. Rather, they should be kept on the same premises in a proper place of full respect.

The NMA had written a letter to the archaeology department last month stating that two idols of Lord Ganesha - 'Ulta Ganesh' and 'Ganesha in Cage' - should be given a "respectable" place in the National Museum, where such antiques are kept. The Saket court has now passed this order. In fact, those who filed a petition regarding the right to resettle and worship Hindu deities inside the mosque premises had filed a fresh petition demanding that the idols of Ganesha should not be removed from the mosque premises. On which the court has ordered them not to be removed from there.

According to media reports, idols of several Hindu deities including Tirthkar Rishabhdev, Lord Vishnu, Ganesh Ji, Shiva-Gauri, and Surya Dev are still present at the Quwwat Islam Mosque of Qutub Minar. Most of these idols are lying in a fractured state in the complex. At the same time, it is clearly written on the board of ASI outside the mosque that these mosques have been built from the remains of 27 Hindu Jain temples by demolishing them. A petition was filed in the Saket court in Delhi. The petitioner had sought the right to restore and worship Hindu deities there citing historical facts about the idols in the mosque premises. Let us know that The Jain Tirthankars Lord Rishabhdev and Lord Vishnu were made petitioners in this case.

On the one hand, a petition seeking the right to worship the deities inside the mosque premises is still pending in the court. At the same time, NMA chief Tarun Vijay, in a letter to the Ministry of Culture, has demanded the removal of Ganesh idols present there. In a letter dated March 25, he had said, "It is a very shameful thing that the idols of Lord Ganesha have been kept in a very humiliating condition inside the mosque premises. One of the idols is in a place where the feet of the people are located, while the other is locked in the lattice, they can be removed from there and placed in another place like the National Museum.''
