New Delhi: The latest data as per the Central Pollution Control Board states that the air quality in the Delhi has turned hazardous just two days ahead of the Festivals of Light Diwali. On Monday morning, the Air Quality Index (AQI) in the national capital was recorded to be 295 at 7 AM. The major pollutant was PM 2.5 whereas the PM 10 level was recorded at 232 from the CPCB air quality monitoring station.

In Noida, the AQI was recorded at 264, mainly caused by PM 2.5 particles whereas the PM 10 level was recorded at 244. Consequently, the air quality in Noida fell under the ‘poor’ category. While, in Greater Noida, the index was recorded at 254 (PM 2.5) and the PM 10 level was 236, making the air quality fall into the poor category.

Talking about Ghaziabad, the major pollutant was PM 2.5, setting the Air Quality Index at 270 and the PM 10 level was recorded at 245. Ghaziabad air quality was also labeled as poor. In Haryana’s Faridabad, the air quality index was 259 consequentially PM 2.5, which  also falls under the poor category.

In Gurugram the AQI was recorded at 213, due to PM 2.5, i.e. particles in the air with a diameter less than 2.5 micrometres. On the whole, the air quality in Gurugram was also recorded to be ‘poor’. The pollution level is expected to increase with a raise in moisture from Monday evening.
