New Delhi: The Delhi government's dream of supplying water to Delhiites through a round-the-clock pipeline is still far from being seen. Looking at the circumstances of the pilot project that was launched on this ambitious project, it seems that even after decades, the dream may not be a dream.

The Delhi Jal Board had planned to provide water round the clock in 2009 and launched a pilot project in January 2013 in association with the Suez company. The project was aimed at providing round the clock water supply to 50,000 connections in Malviya Nagar and 8,000 connections to Vasant Vihar by December 2014.

According to Virendra Kumar, head of the project and senior engineer, about six-and-a-half years after the project began, only about 800 connections at Navjivan Vihar and Gitanjali Enclave in Malviya Nagar and 450 connections to Vasant Vihar are getting water round the clock.

Kumar claimed that the delay in getting permission from all land-owned agencies, municipal bodies, DDA and forest department, is also responsible for the delay of the project. Not only that, but this pilot project is also not being completed because the water board does not have enough water to supply water round the clock.
