New Delhi: Central Pollution Control Board's daily bulletin reported that, Delhi's air remained in the "critical" category for the fourth day in a row, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) hitting 402 around 4 p.m. on Sunday. In the previous 24 hours, Delhi's average air quality index (AQI) was 405. At the same time, the air quality in Faridabad, the capital of the National Capital Region, remained critical. Although the air has reached the worst category from severe in the next 24 hours, the rise in wind speed from Monday has had the impact of improvement in the future days. As a result of the increasing air pollution, the situation will deteriorate.

According to statistics, in the last 24 hours, 19 incidences of stubble burning have been registered in Punjab, 28 in Haryana, and 257 in Uttar Pradesh. Pm 2.5, which is produced as a result, added very little to pollution in Delhi-NCR. PM10 levels in the air were three and a half times higher, at 350 micrograms per cubic metre, while PM2.5 levels were three and a half times higher, at 211 micrograms per cubic metre.

According to the data so far, a two-day rise in wind speed may result in a reduction in pollution. This alleviation, however, is only for two days. When the temperature dips after December 1 and the wind speed drops, pollution levels may rise. From October 30 to November 3, 12565 stubble burning occurrences were reported, as per reports.
